Frequently asked questions

How are the masks made?

Our masks are home-sewn by our Founder, Alison Ruiz. As a nurse clinician and educator, she designs masks that are made according to public health and CDC recommendations.

What materials are the masks made of?

There are two layers of 100% cotton and a filter insert for added protection. They are designed with a mechanism to conform to various nose bridges for comfort and a better fit.

Do the masks come with a filter?

Not at the moment. We recommend using coffee filters or if available, Hepa filters such as this:

What is the best way to care for the masks?

We recommend hand-washing or if machine washing, use gentle cycle and place the masks in mesh laundry bags as you would for delicate items.

How do I safely wear masks?

For best practice guidelines, please follow recommendations as per Public Health of Canada:

How long will it take to receive pre-order items?

Pre-Order means that the product is not currently in stock and you must place your order as per normal if you'd like to secure your size before the item arrives with us. Kindly note, Pre-Orders cannot be cancelled/refunded once placed. The benefit of purchasing Pre-Order items is that you will secure your size without risking the item becoming sold out shortly after we list it online. Please note dates are not guaranteed and delays may occur, mainly due to fabric sourcing & shipment. Masque & Co is not held liable for any unforeseen delays that may occur if you wish to Pre-Order an item. So please take extra care when placing your order, as we do not issue refunds for unexpected delays, change of mind/sizing or cancellations. As soon as fabrics arrive, it generally takes 7-10 business days to produce the mask. We will, however, update you after Pre-Order when your items are available for shipping.
